The existing bridge’s roadway and timber bridge rail do not meet current safety and operational standards. The narrow shoulders do not provide additional recovery areas for motorists, safe access for vehicles, pedestrians, and cyclists, or passage for emergency vehicles. For the proposed build alternatives, the bridge’s deck will be 47 feet wide and consist of two 12-foot travel lanes, 6-foot shoulders, reinforced railings, and a 6-foot separated pedestrian walkway on the west side of the bridge.
